We’re excited to announce that joining us on the virtual stage for Opticon20’s keynote: NASCAR Cup Series Driver and Activist, Bubba Wallace. He’ll be joining Optimizely CMO, Carl Tsukahara, for a fireside chat where they’ll be discussing getting it right: the science of race car driving and the drive for racial equality.
In 2013, Bubba became the first African-American driver to win one of NASCAR’s national series since 1963. He continued to raise the bar by taking home the checkered flag in the 2nd position at the world-renowned Daytona 500 in 2018 and becoming the highest finishing African-American driver.
At just 26, as the only full-time African-American NASCAR driver, Bubba is using his platform to amplify the message that even in a NASCAR arena —where confederate flags fly free —black lives still matter. By doing so, he accelerated the acceptance of new norms and became an agent of change for his sport, his country, and anyone who has ever been sidelined by roadblocks of race along the way.
